February

Sun 3 Gardens and Grounds

Open 1-5pm Adults £3.50 children free

Sat 9 Conifers at Gatton

Learn to tell a pine from a fir and a redwood from a yew. When did they come to this country, where from and why? Walk around the park with Heloise Collier.

11am – 3.30pm Cost: £8 including lunch

Sat 23 Japanese Gardens In England

The place of the Japanese-Style Garden in the relationship between Britain and Japan. A talk with Dr Jill Raggett.

March

Sat 1 Make it, Take it - Beginners Batik

Create beautiful textiles with Sonia Percival

10am – 3.30pm Cost: £15 (plus materials charge) including lunch.

Sat 8 Advanced Map reading

You can read a map – but what about a compass? Can you find your way in the muddle of a wood? Learn the theory indoors and then practice it outside in the park.

10am – 4pm Cost:£10 including lunch

Sat 15 Make it, Take it - Beginners Felt making

Technique for creating beautiful textiles with Sonia Percival

10am – 3.30pm £15 (plus materials charge) including lunch.

April

Sun 6 Drawing Gatton

Developing your art skills (particularly drawing) with Chris Howkins

10.45 – 4pm Cost: £15 including lunch

Sun 20 Signs of Spring

Enjoy a walk with Chris Howkins discovering the signs of spring and learn a little of the history of the plants with his interesting anecdotes.

2pm Cost: £8 including tea and cake.

Sat 26 Make it, Take it - Making Mosaics

Make your own lovely mosaic, learning the techniques that you need to know from artist, Sonia Percival 10am – 3.30pm Cost: £15 (with small materials charge) including lunch.

Plant sale and Embroiderers' Guild Exhibition

Sat 17 Wild Flower Wonders

Often wondered why different plants grow in different places or how plants grow in difficult habitats? Come and learn about plant adaptations, including a walk around the Park, with Heloise Collier.

A great day out for all the family. Country crafts and demonstrations, children's activities, gardens and grounds open.

Don't know which way to go? Then come and learn the basics of map-reading. We'll be doing practical work indoors and out in the park. With Heloise Collier.

Sun 26 ‘Make a Difference Day'

Find out what makes Volunteering at Gatton Park so satisfying.

10-1pm; 2-4pm Meet at the glasshouse (by Stables)

November

Thurs 6 What the Dickens!

Come and meet, and listen to, some of your favourite Dickens characters. Play(or watch others play!) some less common Victorian parlour games and enjoy a glass of mulled wine and Christmassy nibbles. In conjunction with the Archway Theatre Company.

7.30pm Cost: £8

Sun 9 Signs of Autumn

December

Sat 6 Make it, Take, it - Christmas Printing

Make cards and wrapping paper and other Christmassy bits using various printing techniques
