We have lots of activities for children to learn in Gatton Park Surrey, in many different ways.
Why not bring your kids for some fun during the school holidays?
Our Education Officer leads all of the activities with special tutors for some courses.

Sun 3 Gardens and Grounds

Open 1-5pm Cost: Adults £3.50 children free. Free activities for families in the grounds, supported by Legal & General.

Wed 20 Nature's Calendar (4 – 12years)

Discover the signs of winter and make your own wildlife calendar for the year ahead.

Session 1: 10 – 12noon Session 2: 1.30 – 3.30pm Cost: £4

Fri 22 Start Art – Story Books (4 – 7 years)

Fun art activities to create a book of pictures to fuel the creativity of younger visitors to tell their own stories.

10 – 12noon Cost: £5 per child

March

Wed 9 Discover Bird watching (4 – 12 years)

Activities about Gatton's birds and then visit the bird hide to look at the nesting wild birds and ducks on the lake.

Fri 11 Start Art - Natural Art (4 – 7 years)

Sticks and stones, leaves and seeds. Fun art activities using natural materials for younger visitors and their parents.

10 – 12noon Cost: £5 per child

Wed 16 Frogs and Toads (4 – 12 years)

Find out about the amphibians at Gatton.

Fri 18 Paint & Glue Days – Light and Stars (8 – 12 years)

Lantern-making and other art activities about stars and planets.

Discover the characters from Alice in Wonderland around the park. This event is run by Gatton Community Theatre. NO BOOKING REQUIRED

Environmental country fair with animals, crafts, displays and demonstrations

Discover the hidden heritage of Gatton Park. Join in the Activities for National Archaeology Week

Thurs 31 In Search of Faeries (4 years+)

Back by popular demand - While the youngsters foil the evil plans of the faery Catcher, the grown ups explore the mystery of the myth of Faeries and the world in which they live. Crew of Patches Theatre Company.

Back for a third year! Become a Dragon Hunter – learn the skills needed to hunt the dragons of Gatton Park with Crew of Patches Theatre Company.

Join Norwegian storyteller Ragnhild A. Mørch for a walk around the park listening to faery tales and fables.

Sat 23 Better Storytelling! Family Activities

Ragnhild will tell stories for families and then help parents to develop their story telling skills, while the children enjoy creative crafts relating to the stories

Learn about birds that might visit your garden and make some bird feeders

Magical rather than terrifying! Discover the pumpkin king in his magical garden with Crew of Patches Theatre Company.

November

Sat 29 Make an Advent Calendar

Create your own wildlife advent calendar.

10 – 12 noon Cost: £5

December

Sun 7 Santa's Grotto

Enjoy a golf buggy ride to Santa in his grotto, explore the grounds following a trails of clues and then return to Gatton hall to make a Christmas party crown.

1pm – 3pm £3.50 per child. Tea and cake available to purchase.

Sat 20 Paint and Glue - Christmas (8 – 12 years)

Make it, paint it, stick it, draw it and then cover it in glitter!

OPEN DAYS 2008


Grounds are open on the first Sunday of each month from February to October from 1.00pm-5.00pm or dusk whichever is earlier.

£3.50 adults, children free. Refreshments available

Rent-a-Rucksack Free Of Charge
Discover Gatton with your family by renting a rucksack full of fun things to do and discover around the park.

Rucksacks include binoculars, sketchbooks, art materials and seasonal quiz sheets.

To claim your rucksack ask inside Gatton Hall near the tea and cake stall.

£10 deposit required, fully refunded on return of rucksack and equipment.
